Indiana Republican Leadership Only Turned on Diego Morales After Political Damage Became Unavoidable
By Rob Kendall · May 22, 2026
Growing fallout inside the Indiana Republican Party is exposing deeper frustration over Secretary of State Diego Morales, party leadership, and years of ignored ethics concerns. Critics argue Republican officials protected Morales until fears over election losses, political fallout, and the rise of third-party challengers forced party insiders to publicly reverse course.
I told you guys for years. I said my goal is to expose the Republican Party because it’s so broken, it’s so broken guys, that the only way to fix it is for it to completely break down and for it to get exposed what it is. I want the Republican Party to succeed. I am a Republican, by the way. Remember? Speaking of which, remember, I got banned from the Hendricks County Lincoln Day last year. Remember, they banned me because the party chair was freaking out that I was going to ask Diego who paid for that India trip and what Raju did, and he was gonna melt down. He was gonna melt down like he did in Clay County. And so they told the guy who was going to invite me, not bringing him.
Do I get an apology from the Hendricks County Republican Party? Hey, Phil Clay, where’s my apology? Because I think Phil Clay’s all in on Max Engling now. Right. Somebody correct me if I’m wrong on that. I think I saw him post that he’s all in on Max Engling. Do I get my apology now? Since the Republican Party official position, since you guys got your talking points, and it appears to be the Rob Kendall position that Diego’s a piece of garbage and we got to get rid of him. Do I get my apology now? Do I get to like Republican of the Year award next year? This coming dinner for being the one guy who was saying all the things you guys are saying now. Kiss my ass, Phil.
Indiana Republican Leaders Accused of Ignoring Diego Morales Controversies for Years
You guys treated me like garbage, and now y’all are saying the stuff that I was saying, but not because you, not because you want Diego exposed, not because you want the truth, but because you want it swept under the rug. You want Diego and his scandals and his BS to go away because a bunch, a bunch of people, a bunch of Republicans would likely get implicated if Diego actually gets exposed.
Look, this is not about Diego’s behavior. It’s about Diego’s behavior taking everyone down. That’s what everyone needs to realize. This is not about Diego’s behavior getting exposed or Diego getting held accountable. They do not want that. They want Diego to go away because they don’t want it coming out. And they believe, especially with Ballard in the race, Ballard is going to cost him the election. Everything I said last week in that Indy Star article that some of these same people were just outraged over, oh, he’s left WIBC and he’s reduced to the liberal Indy Star. Yeah, yeah. The liberal Indy Star, the liberal Indy Star with 50,000 readers a day, subscribers, readers. More readers than that, probably. Compared to the, you know, similar number I had on WIBC. Yep. It’s horrible.
Critics Say GOP Officials Only Changed Course After Fearing Election Losses and Political Fallout
No, they were mad because they knew what Diego was, and they hadn’t got their marching orders yet. That it’s okay to finally admit what Diego is. You guys see how quick this all happened? That in like two days, we went from the gaslighting of Diego’s the best. Diego’s awesome. To Diego’s the worst, and Diego’s got to go. You see how quickly the switch flips now.
Everybody thought yesterday. So by the way, share the show. If you haven’t done so yet, please help us out. Like this program. Hit that thumbs up. Help us grow. Unlike some people, we’re going to be back here on Tuesday. We’re not going to leave you guys. We’re staying here for the long haul. We have been with you and fighting for you for ten years and we ain’t going anywhere. But we need your help to grow. We need you guys to stay engaged with us and engage like never before.
Indiana Statehouse Insiders Allegedly Monitored Rob Kendall Show for Political Response Strategy
You know how much they hate. This is a true story. Somebody told me this yesterday. I won’t tell you who the person was. This is great. This person has worked in the General Assembly for a long time, worked in the Senate, other places. This person said when you, and he said, they’re not there anymore. So they don’t like, they’re not in the Senate anymore. So they don’t know. But the person said, when you’re on the radio, and he said, it may still be true with what you’re doing now, the press people for the Senate, so there’s a variety of people who handle all the press. Most of the senators have every few senators has their own press person. I can’t remember if it’s 2 or 3 or how it works. I’ll have to ask Merritt. He’d know. But he said every day there was a direct order from the Senate that one of the press people, and they took turns and they rotated. Their job was to listen to your show.
The direct order from the Senate was, our job was to listen to your show and then make notes on essentially anything local that we might need to know about or respond to. That’s how powerful the show was. The Senate leadership gave it directions. You listen to that guy. I mean, Andrew Ireland told us how in the, when we had the property tax rally, the Republican caucus in the House, they got screamed at. Ain’t nobody going over there and ain’t none of you people wearing green.
Growing Divide Between Grassroots Conservatives and Republican Leadership Continues to Escalate
And these guys are outraged at how successful this show is and has become in 12 weeks, because nobody else could pull it off, because nobody has what we have, guys. We are getting across all of our platforms.
