Morales and Braun Team Up with TPUSA in Act of Desperation
So our lead story today comes to us from the Indiana Capital Chronicle. And the story is that Diego Morales, the Indiana Secretary of State, boy, isn't that guy in the news all the time now, is partnering up with Turning Point USA for a voter registration partnership with Turning Point's Club America high school organization. So of course, Turning Point USA is the organization that was led by Charlie Kirk before he was tragically assassinated. Now his wife playing a key role in that.
And one of the things that Turning Point USA does is they engage with young people. Charlie Kirk was phenomenal, college, high school kids, getting them to engage in the political process. And so Diego Morales announced yesterday, really, if you think about this, he was big timing or one upping the governor, because Diego Morales came out with this announcement, as the governor was saying, I have a big announcement with Turning Point USA coming up later this week. They called it a quote unquote, significant announcement from the governor's office Thursday, Diego, maybe there's something else, but spilled the beans early, always wanted to grab the headline said we're doing a voter registration partnership with Turning Point USA. Now, first of all, why is the government engaged in promoting voter registration for anyone of any age? The government's job is not to get people to register to vote. That is the job of you as an adult.
Because if you're old enough to vote, you're an adult, you have to be 18. Well, 17, technically, depending on when your birthday is, but for all intents and purposes, you're an adult, or you're living in an environment under adult supervision. That is the job of you if you're an adult, or and or your parents, I have never thought the government should have any role in telling people to register to vote or registering people to vote. If outside groups want to do that, that's fine. If outside groups want to go out and stand on the street and get people registered to vote, that's fine. I have never believed the taxpayer money, of which is in, you know, a demand these days, slim supply, right, we're 35 trillion in debt, our state couldn't balance its budget last year without raising taxes by a billion dollars.
We claim we have no money for vital things like roads without raising taxes by six and a half billion dollars. Clearly, cash is running short, and we shouldn't be spending it on registering people to vote.
That is their job to register to vote. That is their job to have enough civic consciousness or pride to register to vote. The government shouldn't be spending its resources telling you to go vote, registering you to vote. The government should just provide the mechanism to do that. All for the government having, when you want to go register to vote, registering you to vote. But in terms of spending money to get people to do it, because if I got to beg you to vote, I got a feeling you're not somebody I really want voting. If you aren't aware by the time you're 17 and a half, 18 years old, about the importance of voting, and I got to beg you to do it at any point in your life, you're probably not going to vote the way I want, and I really don't want you voting.
But Diego Morales, Indiana government, has said, "We think this is important to register young people to vote, and we're going to partner with Turning Point USA." The Secretary of State's office said it would, quote, "collaborate with Club America," that's the high school arm of Turning Point USA, "to host voter registration drives on high school campuses and provide students with accurate, up-to-date election information." So now you have the state of Indiana, with an outside group, going into the public school system, registering people to vote, a third party.
It's bad enough that the state is doing it. Now they're partnering with a third party to go in to register young people to vote. Now, again, we're talking about the idea of the government registering to vote before we tell you what's actually going on here. I think this is set up for a lawsuit because Turning Point USA, which was led by Charlie Kirk, clearly has a political leaning.
Look, a lot of their politics, I agree with. I agree with a lot of the things Charlie Kirk said. However, when you have a third party group that is clearly based in political activism, which is clearly based in a political lean or getting people to vote, see the fact that Turning Point USA actively out campaigning in Republican primaries for state Senate candidates, if you flip that and you put that on the other side of the coin, pick your favorite equivalent Democrat leaning organization, people would be outraged if Diego Morales was partnering with them.
If there was a group that was actively engaged in recruiting and campaigning for Democrat primary Senate candidates and Diego Morales suggested that those people go into the high school, partnering with the government, with his office to register people to vote, what would your response be? You would be outraged. You'd be absolutely people would be fit to be tied about this. And so I think this thing is going to have real trouble in terms of handling legal scrutiny. And just from an optics perspective, the government should be like an umpire, right? It just calls the balls and strikes totally neutral. In this case, you've got an umpire who's wearing one of the jerseys of one of the teams. I think it's horrible optics. I don't think it's going to look well. I'm not sure it's going to stand up to legal scrutiny. But let's talk about turning point USA and why our governor and our Secretary of State keep partnering with turning point USA.
Mike Braun and Diego Morales are getting desperate.
Poll after poll shows with not only Diego Morales, but also Mike Braun that the voters, you can't even say they're underwater. You can't even say that they're struggling. They're despised. What the most recent poll that was put out by public policy polling, a respected polling firm had Braun's negatives two to one, two to one voters in the state disapproved of the job he's doing. It matches or it mirrors other polls that while they may not have shown him down two to one, they show him certainly well underwater. And the polls that have come out on Diego Morales, while the majority of voters in those polls have no idea who he is, which is pathetic given that he has run essentially a 24-7 campaign operation out of his office for the past three plus years. Those who do don't like him.
So you have two guys that are despised by the voters. And it is clear, especially when you factor in how Braun handled redistricting and where he essentially outsourced that and became subservient to Turning Point USA. Now you couple it with this voter partnership and from Morales and Braun's big announcement. You have big portions of state government handing the keys over to an outside organization and it's becoming more and more obvious to me. They are doing this Braun, Diego to try to save themselves.
Look, Diego Morales is in huge trouble. Look at the response to Greg Ballard declaring his independent run for secretary of state. Look at the freak out from the Republicans when Ballard made that announcement.
You don't respond that way if you don't have something to fear. Look at the polling. Look at the fact that it is one high profile, bad headline after another with Diego. The most recent one, this, this investigation from the Marion County election board, which has been forwarded to the state inspector general, involving him running this political ad featuring Marion County government workers in the Marion County election center. And with the Republicans, for some reason, not only will they not drop this guy, you still see high profile people lining up in support of him. The most high profile one recently, US Senator Jim Banks. I asked this question to a very connected person in state government the other day. I said, why will the Republicans not drop Morales? And the person said, other than money, I have no idea. And that is the answer. If you look at donations, if you look at to these politicians, you look at where the money comes from, so much of that money that touches Diego Morales touches so many other high profile people in state government.
The Republicans are really stuck. So instead of doing the obvious thing at the convention this year, which is to dump Diego Morales, put a highly qualified, competent person like David Shelton in that office, Knox County clerk, very respected individual. It's a pick em right now on what the Republican Party is going to do, despite the fact that polling clearly shows if they nominate him, especially with Greg Ballard in the races and independent and a not even well funded an arsenal, Beau Bayh will have an arsenal on the Democrat side of money. The Republicans are likely to lose that seat. They appear in many circles in the Republican Party content to do that. So let's talk about turning Point USA and Braun for a second. Braun has been convinced that Turning Point USA is some sort of magic bullet to help him.
It is the reason that he turned over redistricting despite poll after poll saying it was wildly unpopular with people, the state of Indiana, despite the pro Temp of the Senate of the same party, Rod Bray repeatedly begging Braun not to do redistricting, telling him the votes weren't there. Look, redistricting was voted down by the majority of Republicans in the Senate.
And yet Braun went forward with redistricting because he has become subservient to Turning Point USA and Donald Trump and by extension Turning Point USA convinced him and with their major connection to the lieutenant governor, which we'll get to in a second, that they were they were able to they would carry the day. They'd have these rallies, they would lobby these senators, they would get it done. Ignore the polling. Ignore what the people are supposedly saying. Ignore what what the pro Temp of the Senate is telling you will be able to carry the day.
And they couldn't do it. It's why Braun shot his mouth off after it went during the redistricting process. And after it went down, of course, he backtracked on it because Braun backtracks on everything because he is totally gutless. But it's why he shot his mouth of we're going to primary all of these senators who don't vote for what we want. Turning Point USA told him it's okay, man. We got it in the bag. We're going to recruit all these senators that we're going to support them. Look at the crop of people that they've recruited. One guy didn't even know anybody wanted him to run until Trump tweeted his name out, then got in without knowing anything about the job, then got out and made a statement, well, it's too hard. It's too big. And I can't do it. And then I guess got back in because he went to the White House with Trump. In Vigo County, the Terre Haute area, I know for a fact they were so disorganized. They were begging people to run. And one guy they begged would have been kicked off the ballot because he hadn't voted in enough Republican and primaries. Turning point USA in a post Charlie Kirk world is not what it was. And nobody should expect to be what it was. What happened to Charlie Kirk was horrible.
It was, it was the death was horrific. Hopefully the most extreme punishment allowed by law happens to the guy that did that. But any time when a person is literally bigger than the organization, which Charlie Kirk was, and you remove that person, that, that, that organization is not going to have the same level of influence. There are organizations where one individual is literally bigger than the organization itself. You see it all the time. And Turning Point USA has made these promises to Braun that in a post Charlie Kirk world, they are going to have trouble cashing. Look at the rest of the candidates that they quote unquote recruited. Is there anybody that stands out to you that goes, wow, that person's amazing.
What a home run candidate, especially when you compare it to like how the independent Indiana was able to recruit someone like Greg Ballard to run all the, in all the, all the publicity that that got all the money that he will be able to raise Turning point USA didn't deliver on any of that. And again, I want to remind you people, two of the candidates that they recruited in the Senate races to challenge incumbent senators. And by the way, I'm cheering for these Senate candidates. These incumbent senators have grown, done great damage to our state. I'm not saying this in support of them. I'm saying this, you know me, we call the balls and strikes here. We dislike all these people equally. I'm telling you what's going on. Turning point did not recruit one candidate. That is a standout.
Two of the candidates they recruited. One guy didn't even know he was being recruited and then got in because Trump tweeted his name. And then after Trump tweeted his name and he got in and he goes, this is too hard. I got to get out. And then I guess he got back in the other recruiting in, in Terre Haute to challenge Greg Goode. One of the people that they were begging to run would have been kicked off the ballot because he hadn't even voted in enough Republican primaries. And yet Turning Point USA has Braun convinced that they are some end all be all where he essentially has to, has to hand the keys of the state over to them and the things that they want. Look at what he did recently with the Lieutenant Governor. You guys remember this where he handed millions of dollars over to the office of the Lieutenant Governor to head up this faith initiative. Micah Beckwith, the guy whose church is facing a mega high profile sex scandal related to Micah Beckwith's boss, best friend and podcast co-host, that guy's son going down for horrible crimes against children.
And in terms of, and while that investigation was going on into the crimes against children, the authorities discovered that Micah Beckwith's boss, podcast host and best friend, the church that he oversees, that Micah Beckwith works at, had a massive unexplained home video sex collection of him and his wife that has caused that guy to now leave that church, take a leave of absence from that church. And yet of all the people in the state of Indiana to hand millions of dollars over to, to lead a faith initiative, Mike Braun chose Micah Beckwith, the church that is in shambles, that there has been deception, deflection, no accountability for this massive news story in regards to the guy who was leading the church.
That's the best person to lead a faith initiative, give millions of dollars over to. And by the way, according to the Indiana Citizen, the job of the faith initiative that Micah Beckwith now oversees is to quote, promoting principled morals and character.
The church that is embroiled in scandal over the behavior of the lead pastor, Micah Beckwith's best friend, podcast co-host and boss that Micah won't say a word publicly about, oh, he'll take, he'll, he'll throw a video up for someone like Ron Alting, state Senator from Lafayette like that, but not a word, not a word about the sex scandal in his own church. Mike Braun handed the faith initiative over to him. Why?
Because Micah Beckwith is connected into Turning Point USA.
Your money is going to Micah Beckwith's office to appease Turning Point USA under any, under no circumstance. There's not any circumstance. We're given how Life Church where Micah Beckwith works and is a pastor at Noblesville, how they have handled that scandal.
You would look at, look at anybody there and go, that's a person that should lead anything related to faith initiatives. And Mike Braun is, by the way, isn't it fascinating how Braun and Beckwith have become best friends. They go places together. They go to events together. By the way, I thought Micah Beckwith was supposed to be the check and balance on Braun.
Has the Lieutenant Governor said a word about the six and a half billion dollars of tax increases Braun is proposing on I-70? Been a couple of days now. Bueller, anything? Those guys are now joined at the hip. Why? Because Braun believes Beckwith is the pathway to Turning Point USA and Braun has been convinced the Turning Point USA are the people that can turn it around for him. This is what's going on in your state government.
